Mexico is a country full of opportunity and a society on the move. There has rarely been a better time for British companies to do business here. Since I came to Mexico, I have found that the perceptions that many of us in the UK have of Mexico are often out-of-date. Mexico today is a modern, dynamic country with an open and growing economy. Mexico will be a key country of influence in the 21st century.

Mexico is an attractive market in its own right. The past decade has seen sound management of public finances, with prolonged economic growth and stable inflation. Mexico regularly ranks in the top three emerging markets in which to do business and is a country ready and open for business.

However, with its impressive network of Free Trade Agreements (including North America and the EU) and its strategic location between the USA and Latin America, Mexico can also act as a springboard into the region for British business.

The Mexican Government and businesses are actively working to develop a wider range of trade partners. But today, the UK exports less to Mexico than many of our major competitors. While the opportunities clearly exist, others are taking greater advantage of them. With the support of our Mexican partners, the British Government and UK Trade & Investment, in particular, are determined to change this.

UK Trade & Investment is the British Government Department that helps UK-based companies to succeed in the global economy and assists overseas companies to bring their high-quality investments to the UK. In Mexico, UK Trade & Investment has a team of 32 people, based in the major cities, dedicated to helping British companies export. We can provide a variety of help - bespoke market reports, press and media services, suggestions of business partners, introductions and organisation of events with the support of the British Ambassador.

We can tailor our work to your specific needs and we aim to save you time, cost and reduce the inevitable risks of doing business in an overseas market.

We look forward to welcoming you to Mexico and to helping your business succeed here. If you would like to know more about how we can help your business please contact us at mexicocommercial.mexico@fco.gov.uk or 0052 5516703200.  We are ready to help.
